Things to do in Calgary

There are so many activities available in Calgary that it can seem daunting just knowing where to start! Try starting with Where Calgary.

The Calgary Newcomers' Club has been helping women settle into the city since 1961. The club hosts a large range of activities, where you will be guaranteed to meet like-minded women and make friends.

The Chinook Club (Shell Canada's social club) promotes and provides social and recreational activities and related services for its members as well as offering a range of benefits (ticket discounts etc.) and great networking possibilities. Give them a call at (403)-691-3358.

Activities with Children

Calgary Public Library offers different programs and events and might be a good place to bring your kids.

If you are looking for cultural activities, you can take a look at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, the Performing Arts Centre or the University of Calgary Theatre. Tickets are purchased via Ticketmaster.

If you are looking to spend a day, the Glenbow Museum, Telus World of Science, Heritage Park or the Zoo are good places to go. They are all excellent for children.

Sports and Recreation

The Talisman Centre is a good place to start if you want to look at sport and wellness.

Hiking and Nature

If you do not mind travelling outside the city, the mountains offer beautiful scenery for hikers during summer and skiers during winter.
For summer trips, take a look at: Kananaskis, Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Waterton Lakes National Park or if you want to go south of the border Glacier National Park.
If you want to go skiing, tak a look at: Nakiska, Sunshine Village, Lake Louise, Kicking Horse or Fernie depending on how far you want to travel.
